Tool 01 · Deadline calculator

By when do you have to act?

For management and companies: the deadlines most often missed in business life.

Many of them start before any lawyer hears of them. A court payment order arrives by post, a fine notice lands in accounts, a notice of dismissal in the letterbox — and after two or three weeks the deadline has passed. That is why the first question in every first meeting is: how much time is left? Here you can answer it yourself, before you speak to us.

How it is calculated. Under §§ 187, 188 German Civil Code (BGB); if the end falls on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, § 193 BGB moves it to the next working day. Public holidays are not stored here — only Saturday and Sunday. The result is arithmetic, not advice: the start of the period, suspension, receipt and service are contested in the individual case and decide everything. This tool computes German law, in every language.
Not here: tax deadlines belong with your tax adviser. Deadlines in your own contract are found by the Deadline scanner.
Choose the occasion and enter the date. You see the last day — and what happens if it passes.
Two weeks from service. It is not a cut-off period: as long as no enforcement order has been issued, a late objection is still taken into account (§ 694 ZPO). Nobody should rely on that — the creditor can apply for the enforcement order on the day after the period ends. Against that order only an appeal (Einspruch) remains, again within two weeks, and this time the period is strict (§§ 700, 339 ZPO). Miss both, and enforcement can follow without a judge ever having examined the claim.
